Do You Clean OSHC and Outside School Hours Care Facilities?

Yes we do. OSHC cleaning is scheduled in the gap between the school day and the care session, and again after the session closes, because the same hall or classroom serves two different uses with different hygiene requirements on the same day.

Between-session turnaround covers high-contact surfaces, shared hall and multipurpose space reset, toilets, and snack preparation area sanitisation.

OSHC operates in shared school infrastructure, so the cleaning schedule has to fit both the school’s contract and the OSHC provider’s licensed hours without either party chasing it.

Brightside cleaners hold Working With Children Checks and are cleared to attend while children are on site, so a turnaround clean doesn’t require the space to be fully vacated.

What makes childcare cleaning different from standard office cleaning?

Educational spaces require higher hygiene standards, compliance with WHS regulations, child-safe products, and documented protocols for outbreak response. Our 20+ years in schools means we understand the specific regulations in WA childcare facilities.

Commercial childcare cleaning is contracted daily cleaning of an early learning or daycare centre delivered to the hygiene standard the National Quality Framework requires, using products safe for spaces where children crawl, mouth surfaces and sleep.

Approved providers must maintain policies and procedures for health, hygiene and safe food practices under the Education and Care Services National Regulations as applied in Western Australia, and your cleaning records form part of the evidence reviewed under National Quality Standard Quality Area 2 (Children’s health and safety).

Do you have Working with Children checks?

Yes. All staff have current Working with Children checks, National Police Clearance, and Public Liability Insurance.

Employees are required to hold working with children cards if working with any crossover with students on site. We also encourage employees to obtain and hold first aid certifications and Police clearances. We undertake background checks with employees selected to work on school sites.

What certifications we hold

What we hold and what you can verify.

Most education procurement requires contractors to demonstrate compliance before a site visit is even booked. Here’s our documentation status:

  • National Police Clearance — held and current
  • Public liability insurance — held, available on request
  • Working With Children Check
  • ABN registered — ABN 35 695 428 712
  • 20+ years verifiable industry experience
  • Available for site visit and pre-commencement assessment

All employees working at school sites are onboarded and provided training of our cleaning processes. Working across schools, childcare centres and daycares are similar but come with very specific requirements in the way processes. We have site specific training in place for our education sites in Perth, Western Australia.

How do you handle scheduling?

We have partnered with Connect Team for company scheduling, reporting and day to day operations. Flexible before-hours daily cleaning, emergency outbreak response (24-hour availability), and weekend deep cleans available.

What products do you use?

Child-safe, non-toxic products certified for use in educational spaces. We use sustainable products wheree possible and some WA manufactured materials. We comply with Western Australia childcare cleaning standards.

We use a variety of sustainable cleaning materials where possible and use HEPA-filtered vacuums, microfibre systems and low toxicity, fragrance-reduced disinfectants to reduce any and all allergens. We aim to reduce checmical exposure when working at schools, daycare centres and early learning centres.

Cleaners are provided PPE to protect themselves while working onsite.

When we introduce new products we conduct training sessions with key team members to provide correct instruction on use and procedure for using new equipment.

Do You Clean OSHC and Outside School Hours Care Facilities?

Yes. OSHC cleaning is scheduled in the gap between the school day and the care session, and again after the session closes, because the same hall or classroom serves two different uses with different hygiene requirements on the same day.

  • Between-session turnaround covers high-contact surfaces, shared hall and multipurpose space reset, toilets, and snack preparation area sanitisation.
  • OSHC operates in shared school infrastructure, so the cleaning schedule has to fit both the school’s contract and the OSHC provider’s licensed hours without either party chasing it.
  • Brightside cleaners hold Working With Children Checks and are cleared to attend while children are on site, so a turnaround clean doesn’t require the space to be fully vacated.

We specialise in high-contact surface reset between OSHC sessions without full facility evacuation. We are very familiar with OSHC service delivery.

How Do You Clean a Childcare Centre After a Gastro Outbreak?

After a gastro outbreak, standard cleaning is insufficient because norovirus and rotavirus are non-enveloped viruses, they survive on surfaces for days to weeks and resist many general-purpose disinfectants, including quaternary ammonium compounds and alcohol-based products.

The response is a rapid full-sanitisation clean of every high-contact surface using a disinfectant with demonstrated efficacy against non-enveloped viruses, not a repeat of the daily clean.

  • Priority surfaces: toilets and nappy change areas, taps, door handles, light switches, cot rails, mats, and all shared toys and play equipment.
  • Soft furnishings, mats and fabric toys need laundering or steam treatment rather than surface wiping, because wiping redistributes rather than removes viral particles.
  • Brightside provides emergency outbreak-response callout across Rockingham, Mandurah, Bunbury and the Peel and South West regions.
What cleaning protocols do you follow for outbreak situations?

We use a 72-hour response protocol:
Day 1 – immediate isolation & initial disinfection of high-touch surfaces.
Day 2 – deep disinfection with appropriate antivirals.
Day 3 – verification & re-opening checklist. We document every step for compliance.
